Job Overview
The Central Supply Technician is responsible for ensuring that medical supplies and equipment are properly selected, ordered, received, stored, inventoried, and distributed to the proper facilities and departments of Eastern Plumas Health Care. They play a critical role in ensuring the success of our organization by providing the necessary materials for patient care, all while maintaining compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.
Core Responsibilities and duties ·
- Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels, assist with ordering, initiating reorders to prevent shortages, receive, inspect, store, and distribute materials and equipment. Manages inventory levels, performs cycle counts, and monitors stock rotation and for expired or damaged items.
- Stock Replenishment: Restock supply rooms and carts throughout the facility. Fills supply requisitions and stock requests efficiently. · Logistics & Distribution: Deliver supplies and equipment to user departments and manages outgoing shipments.
- Contract Compliance: Ensures purchases comply with hospital contracts and vendor/GPO agreements. · Safety & Compliance: Maintain clean, safe, and organized storage areas. Follow safety protocols, regulations, and standards. Adheres to infection control policies.
- Sterilization Practices: Handles, cleans, packages, sterilizes, and properly maintains documentation of instruments.
- Policies and Procedures: Follow all established policies, procedures and standards related to Eastern Plumas Health Care and Supply Management.
- Communication: Must communicate appropriately and effectively with facilities, departments, employees, vendors and suppliers to resolve any supply-related or departmental issues.
- Documentation: Uses computerized systems to receive packing slips, manage purchase orders (PO), and update inventory records.
- Vendor Interaction: Coordinates with vendors to ensure accurate, timely deliveries. Identifies and resolves supply chain issues.
- Equipment Maintenance: Ensures patient care equipment is clean, stored correctly, and available` Performs other duties as assigned. Must know Courier route, schedule and responsibilities. Be willing and capable of filling in where needed (ie. Courier).

Key Skills and Qualifications
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in inventory software (EHR/MMIS systems) and material management systems, Cerner and Microsoft Office applications. Must have basic computer and phone skills. Familiarity with surgical instruments, aseptic techniques, and sterilization equipment (gas and steam sterilizers). Understanding of medical supplies, medical terminology, and hospital PAR systems.
Communication: Effective verbal and written communication skills for reporting, vendor interaction, coordination with clinical and administrative staff regarding supply and equipment needs and sterilization information. · Physical Ability: Ability to lift, pull, push and transport heavy supplies, equipment, and delivery carts as required by the role. Physical ability to stand, sit, walk, or drive for long periods.
Experience: High school diploma or equivalent required. Previous experience in a healthcare environment with knowledge of procurement best practices, inventory management, medical supplies, and hospital logistics is preferred.
Skills: Strong attention to detail, and excellent organizational skills are crucial. Must have excellent interpersonal skills, time management skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Accepts direction, able to problem-solve, and utilizes good judgment while demonstrating tact, resourcefulness, patience and dedication. Maintains high standards of cleanliness and understanding of infection control protocols and the confidentiality of information.
Certifications: Have or obtain BLS/CPR Certification. Current California Driver's license with clear DMV record.
